Our story

Why I started Cary Sprinklers

I didn’t plan to start a sprinkler company. I started it because I got burned by one.

Before this was a business, I was the customer. I hired one of the big local irrigation outfits — and I got the runaround: overcharged, rushed, and handed off to crews who clearly didn’t care about the work or the people they were doing it for. The more neighbors I talked to, the more I heard the exact same story.

I live here. This is my town, and these are my neighbors. I knew the people in it deserved better than being treated like a number by a company that didn’t value good work or good people. So I built the company I wished I’d been able to call — one that answers the phone, shows up, does the job right the first time, and stands behind it.

That’s Cary Sprinklers. When you call, you’re not a ticket in a queue at some regional headquarters. You’re a neighbor — and we treat every yard like it’s on our own street.

What we stand for

Local, honest, and here for the long haul

The things that were missing when we were the customer are the things we build every job around.

01 · ACCOUNTABILITY

One team that owns the outcome

No rotating crews, no call center three counties away. You deal with the same local team from the quote to the final test, and we stand behind the work with a 100% guarantee.

02 · HONEST PRICING

Clear numbers, no surprises

You get upfront pricing before we start, and we hold to the number we quote. We fix what actually needs fixing — we won’t sell you a new system when a part will do.

03 · REAL LOCAL KNOW-HOW

We know how the Triangle waters

Cary’s reclaimed and potable water, Raleigh Water’s backflow rules, Wake County clay, and each town’s watering schedule are everyday work for us — not a first-time puzzle.

04 · QUALITY PARTS

The brands the trade trusts

We install and repair Hunter, Rain Bird, and Toro — from smart controllers to high-efficiency nozzles — so the fix lasts instead of failing again next season.

Where we work

Serving Cary, Raleigh & Wake County

Local across the Triangle. Each town has its own sprinkler and irrigation repair pages, written for that town’s water rules.

How a job gets quoted

Quoting happens on your property, not over the phone from a description. On a repair call we run the system before pricing anything — every zone, even briefly — because the symptom that made you pick up the phone is frequently not the only thing going on, and diagnosing without pressurized lines is how homeowners end up paying for the same trip twice.

After that you hear what we found, what it takes to correct, and the number, before anything gets dug up or taken apart. When there’s a cheaper route that will hold, we say so. When there’s a cheaper route that won’t hold, we say that too, and the call is yours to make.

The quoted figure is the figure. The only thing that moves it is something genuinely unseeable from the surface — a second break underneath the first, a valve buried where no plan shows one, somebody’s old rush job hiding under the sod. If that turns up, work stops and you hear about it before another minute goes on the clock. Estimates are free, and an estimate here is a commitment rather than a range that grows once we’re in the ground.

Adam and his team resolved an issue with my elderly parents’ irrigation system after other companies indicated they would probably just need to install a new system. Colby did a fantastic job and I appreciate the communication throughout the project. I’ve been so impressed that I’m going to change my home to Cary Sprinklers going forward! Highly recommend!

What the 12-month workmanship warranty covers — and what it doesn’t

Workmanship means our hands. For twelve months after we finish a job, if something we did fails because of the way we did it, we come back and correct it, and that visit costs you nothing. A fitting we glued that seeps. A head we set that settles. A splice we made that goes intermittent. A zone we re-nozzled that turns out uneven under a full run. All ours.

What it isn’t is a service contract on the whole system. It doesn’t cover a mower deck or an aeration machine taking off a head we installed dead level, a crew putting a shovel through a lateral next spring, a hard freeze on a system nobody asked us to blow out, or a component that simply fails on its own with no connection to anything we touched. Manufacturer coverage handles that last one, and we’ll help you use it.

Making a claim is simple: call and tell us what’s behaving oddly, and we come look. The satisfaction guarantee sits over the top of all of it — if the work isn’t right, then as far as we’re concerned it isn’t finished yet.

Six towns that don’t water alike

Our range covers Cary, Apex, Morrisville, Holly Springs, Fuquay-Varina, and Raleigh. You can drive corner to corner of that territory in well under an hour, which is the practical reason the person who quoted your job is the one who comes back for a warranty visit two summers later.

Those towns share a county and very little else where water is concerned. Cary and Morrisville both run on Town of Cary supply, with year-round alternate-day watering by odd and even address on potable water and an exemption for the purple-pipe reclaimed neighborhoods near the water reclamation facilities. Apex sits on the shared Cary–Apex supply and adds an irrigation permit to the list. Holly Springs will let you meter irrigation on its own line, so what goes on the lawn isn’t billed as sewer, and it tiers watering back in a drought. Fuquay-Varina stages restrictions too, and checks backflow every year. Raleigh Water keeps its own testing calendar and is particular about who performs the test.

Two identical houses on identical lots a few miles apart can owe different paperwork and be allowed to water on different days. Keeping all of that straight is just part of working here.

The work we talk people out of

A fair share of this job is telling homeowners they need less than they walked in asking for.

Whole-system replacement is the big one. A yard watering badly is usually a yard with sunk heads, mismatched nozzles, and a schedule nobody has touched in years — a day of work, not a rebuild. We’ll also argue against hanging another zone on a system already short of pressure, because the new zone will disappoint you and it’ll drag down the ones that currently work; splitting an overloaded zone is the honest answer there.

Smart controllers are worth owning, but not bolted onto a system with a leak in it. Automating a hidden fault just wastes water more punctually. And when somebody wants heads added to a corner that never dries out, more water is exactly the wrong prescription — that’s a drainage question, and irrigating it makes the situation worse.

We’ll tell you when the work isn’t ours at all, too. If the trouble sits on the house side of the meter, or in the water service itself, that’s a plumber’s job, and you’ll get told so instead of getting handed a quote.
