Trusted sprinkler installation in Apex, NC

Sprinkler installation done right starts on paper: measure your pressure and flow, design head-to-head coverage, split zones by plant type and sun, then install a code-compliant backflow and program the controller to Apex’s rules. Cary Sprinklers is Apex’s local team for irrigation system installation — 10+ years in the Triangle, fully insured, with the same accountable crew on every job.

Apex water comes from the shared Cary–Apex treatment plant on Jordan Lake, so supply pressure is steady and predictable — we tune head spacing and nozzle sizes to it instead of guessing. The Town sets watering days by address on an odd/even schedule, and every new system needs an irrigation permit and a backflow preventer under Apex’s cross-connection program. We handle that paperwork to town spec. The other factor is the ground itself: tight Wake County clay sheds water fast, so a sprinkler installation here has to match precipitation rates within each zone and run cycle-and-soak so water absorbs instead of sheeting to the curb. Fast-growing yards in Scotts Mill and Haddon Hall prove the point — a system designed for Apex conditions keeps up; a generic one leaves dry arcs and wet gutters.

We serve homeowners throughout Apex — including Scotts Mill, Haddon Hall, Bella Casa, and the Peak City area — and the surrounding Wake County area, and we’ve handled sprinkler installation across the town for over a decade.

The most common call we get in Apex is a Haddon Hall or Scotts Mill homeowner whose builder-era system was never really designed — sprays and rotors mixed on the same zones, heads spaced by pipe length, no cycle-and-soak. The lawn shows it: green circles, brown seams, water in the gutter. Most of those yards need a redesign and fresh sprinkler installation more than another round of patches.

Common sprinkler installation problems we fix in Apex

Big or small, we fix it right the first time with genuine Hunter, Rain Bird & Toro parts.

No system at all

Dragging hoses around a fast-growing Apex yard every summer evening gets old. A designed irrigation system installation waters the whole property on schedule, on your assigned odd/even days.

Builder-grade coverage gaps

Plenty of new systems were laid out by pipe length, not hydraulics. We design head-to-head so every spray pattern overlaps the next and no strip of turf gets missed.

Mixed heads in one zone

Rotors and sprays on the same valve put down water at wildly different rates, so half the zone drowns while half stays dry. We match precipitation rates within every zone.

Runoff on clay

Long runtimes on Wake County clay send water straight to the curb. Cycle-and-soak scheduling breaks watering into short passes the soil can actually absorb.

Unpermitted or missing backflow

A system without the required backflow preventer fails Apex’s cross-connection program and puts the water supply at risk. We install code-compliant backflow and pull the permit.

Turf and beds on one schedule

Shrub beds and fescue need different amounts of water, and sun and shade differ again. We separate zones by plant type and exposure so each gets what it needs.

Who needs sprinkler installation in Apex?

Sprinkler installation near you looks different depending on the yard — here’s who calls us in Apex.

New-construction homeowners

You just closed in Bella Casa or a newer Apex build and the yard is bare or fresh sod. Getting irrigation designed and installed before landscaping matures saves tearing things up later.

Hose-draggers ready to quit

You’ve kept the lawn alive by hand for years and you’re done. A designed system waters on your odd/even days automatically, even when you’re out of town in August.

Homeowners replacing a failing system

The old builder-grade system has gaps, mixed heads, and no backflow. A proper redesign with permitted backflow and matched zones beats patching it another season.

Landscape investors

You’re putting real money into sod, trees, and beds in Scotts Mill or Haddon Hall. Zoned irrigation with cycle-and-soak protects that investment through Apex’s clay-baked summers.

Signs you need sprinkler installation in Apex

If you notice any of these, it’s time for a look:

  • You’re hand-watering every evening in July
  • New sod or landscaping is going in
  • Brown strips between green circles in the lawn
  • Water running down the curb minutes after watering starts
  • Your current system has no backflow preventer
  • Shady beds stay soggy while sunny turf burns

What Apex’s clay and watering rules mean for your sprinkler installation

Apex isn’t like the rest of the Triangle, and we work to what makes it different.

What Apex homeowners should know

  • Cary–Apex water supply: Apex water is treated at the shared Cary–Apex plant on Jordan Lake, which gives steady, predictable pressure. We measure it at your house and size heads, nozzles, and pipe to hold that pressure across every zone.
  • Odd/even watering days: Apex assigns watering days by address on an odd/even schedule. We program your new controller to match from the first day, so you’re compliant without thinking about it.
  • Permit & backflow required: Apex requires an irrigation permit and a backflow preventer on every system under its cross-connection program. We install the required backflow and handle the permit to town spec.
  • Wake County clay: Apex’s tight clay absorbs water slowly and sheds the rest. We match precip rates within each zone and set cycle-and-soak runtimes so water soaks in instead of running down the driveway.

I’m so glad I found Cary Sprinklers! Adam, the owner, is incredibly friendly, honest, and straightforward. He found several problems with our sprinkler system and was able to fix them for a very reasonable price. We had other companies come out who tried to upsell us on repairs costing thousands of dollars, so the difference was unbelievable. I have some experience in this field myself, so I know how to evaluate vendors and recognize when someone is being honest and when they’re simply trying to sell you more work. Adam was clearly focused on actually solving the problems rather than taking advantage of us. He saved us a tremendous amount of money, and we really appreciate it. Thank you so much, Adam, for your honesty, professionalism, and excellent work. Highly recommended!

This is the second time we have used Cary Sprinklers, and both times involved dirty digging and repairing complex leaks. The first was an underground valve leak and they put the dirt and our sod back as if it was their own home. The site around our second job by our backflow was also filled in nicely. Adam the owner, Matt the estimator, and Colby the irrigation magician were all great to work with. We think our irrigation in our box came apart when TOC main busted and the extreme pressure of 200+ psi was too much. Matt did a thorough job looking at our issue, answering all my questions about the possible TOC main break playing a part, and giving quote for the time he felt it would take. Keep in mind, this is the type of small business where you need to be flexible on the time of arrival since prior jobs may put them behind. With this said, the crew will spend all the time needed to repair the issue you have at your home and not rush to make things just good enough. They want to make sure the repair is done to your satisfaction. I texted Adam several times and he had a prompt response time. He was also prompt via email with a post work invoice question. We recommend supporting Cary Sprinklers for the reasons above and because this is a small business growing roots in our community.

Adam and Gerald showed up right on time and kept me updated with texts the night before and the day of with their ETA. I needed a new zone added for part of the yard that wasn’t getting enough water anymore, and they did a great job. Fair pricing, excellent communication, and very professional — I’m really happy with the result.

5 stars — Highly recommend Cary Sprinklers! We hired Cary Sprinklers to expand our existing irrigation system by extending one zone and adding a completely new zone. From the beginning, they were professional, knowledgeable, and very easy to work with. What really impressed us was the equipment and efficiency. They used a Toro Dingo to trench the new lines, which allowed them to get the work done quickly and professionally while keeping the disruption to our yard to a minimum. The crew clearly knew what they were doing, and the installation was done right. Adam took the time to explain what we needed and why, and the communication throughout the project was excellent. The new zones give us much better coverage of the property, and everything is working exactly as it should. We couldn’t be happier with the finished system. The whole process was smooth, and the work exceeded our expectations. We would definitely use Cary Sprinklers again.

Cary Sprinklers is amazing. Adam is professional, capable, and wonderful to do business with. We called him because we had trouble with our timer app and controller. It wasn’t a brand that he usually works with, but he figured it out and fixed it anyway. Additionally, his team did an amazing job removing this massive root to get a broken sprinkler out of the ground and replace it and even under budget! I’ve done business with a few sprinkler companies in my lifetime, and these guys are the best!! They are honest, reliable, and very detail oriented. You will not be sorry if you call Cary Sprinklers.

How our sprinkler installation works

No mystery, no runaround — here’s the order we work in.

Site visit & measurements

We walk the property, measure static pressure and flow, and map sun, shade, turf, and beds. The design starts with real numbers, not assumptions.

Hydraulic design

We lay out head-to-head coverage, match precip rates within zones, and size pipe and valves so pressure holds at the last head. Permit and backflow requirements get folded in here.

Installation

The crew trenches, sets genuine Hunter, Rain Bird, or Toro hardware, installs the code-compliant backflow, and wires the controller. Lines are flushed and every head is adjusted.

Programming & walkthrough

We program cycle-and-soak runtimes for clay and set your Apex odd/even watering days, then walk you through the system. Everything is covered by a 12-month workmanship warranty.

What sets a professional sprinkler installation team apart in Apex

A professional sprinkler installation team designs before it digs. In Apex that means measuring pressure off the Cary–Apex supply, planning head-to-head spacing on paper, and separating turf from beds and sun from shade before a single trench opens. It means pulling the town’s irrigation permit and installing the backflow preventer the cross-connection program requires, not skipping the paperwork and hoping. It means genuine Hunter, Rain Bird, and Toro parts, not whatever’s cheapest that week. And it means the same accountable local team on your property, with Adam standing behind the work and a 12-month workmanship warranty in writing.

How long does sprinkler installation take in Apex?

Most residential sprinkler installation jobs in Apex take one to three days once the design is set, depending on zone count and how much of the yard is landscaped. The permit adds some lead time on the front end, so the full process usually runs a couple of weeks from estimate to first watering. Spring books up fast — homeowners want systems running before summer heat hits the fescue. Fall is honestly a great window: the ground works easily, new sod loves it, and you’re ready before the next hot season. If sod or landscaping is going in, call us first so irrigation goes in the ground before the plants do.

How much does sprinkler installation cost in Apex?

Sprinkler installation cost in Apex depends on scope: lot size, zone count, whether you want a smart controller, and how the backflow and tap need to be handled. We price the whole job upfront — design, permit, hardware, and programming — so there are no surprise line items after the trenches are open. Genuine Hunter, Rain Bird, and Toro parts are part of the quote, not an upgrade. Estimates are free, and every installation carries our 100% satisfaction guarantee and 12-month workmanship warranty. Call or text 919-341-9644 and we’ll take a look at your yard.

How to choose a sprinkler installation company in Apex

Choosing a sprinkler installation company in Apex comes down to a few direct questions. Ask whether they measure pressure and flow before designing, or just space heads by habit. Ask who pulls the Apex irrigation permit and installs the backflow preventer — the town requires both, and it should be their job, not yours. Ask what brands they install and whether the parts are genuine Hunter, Rain Bird, or Toro. And ask what the warranty covers; we put 12 months of workmanship in writing. A company that answers all four without hedging is a company that will still answer the phone next summer.

Serving Apex neighborhoods

We install across Apex — Scotts Mill, Haddon Hall, Bella Casa, and the Peak City area. Scotts Mill and Haddon Hall lots tend to have mature landscaping, so designs work around established trees and separate old beds from open turf. Bella Casa and the newer sections often start closer to bare ground, which means clean trenching and zones planned before the sod goes down. In and around Peak City, smaller lots still get full hydraulic design — tight yards actually punish sloppy head spacing the most. Everything we do locally — every service, plus Apex water rules and neighborhoods — is collected on our Apex, NC page.

What makes Apex distinctive is the combination of steady pressure and stubborn soil. The Cary–Apex plant on Jordan Lake delivers predictable supply, which lets us design tight and confident — but the tight Wake County clay takes water so slowly that runtimes have to be broken into short soak cycles. Towns with sandier soil can get away with lazy scheduling; Apex can’t.

Every new system deserves a smart brain — see our smart controller installation in Apex page for weather-based controllers that cut the water bill. For design details across town, start at the sprinkler installation hub.

And once the yard is finished, a few well-placed fixtures show it off after dark — see our landscape lighting in Apex page.

Some jobs deserve their own deep dive — see our pages on system upgrade & revamp, zone additions & reconfiguration for the full detail on how we handle each across Apex.

Apex sprinkler installation FAQ

How much does sprinkler installation cost in Apex?

It depends on lot size, zone count, and controller choice, so we quote each job upfront after seeing the yard. The price includes design, the Apex permit, backflow, genuine parts, and programming. Estimates are free — call or text 919-341-9644.

Do I need a permit for a new sprinkler system in Apex?

Yes. Apex requires an irrigation permit and a backflow preventer on every system under its cross-connection program. We handle the permit and install the backflow to town spec as part of the job.

Will a new system work with Apex’s watering restrictions?

It’s built for them. Apex sets watering days by address on an odd/even schedule, and we program your controller to match before we leave. Smart controllers can also skip watering after rain.

What brands do you install?

Genuine Hunter, Rain Bird, and Toro hardware, with Irritrol and Rachio options on controllers. We don’t substitute off-brand heads or valves, and everything is covered by our 12-month workmanship warranty.

How long does the installation take?

Most Apex homes take one to three days of on-site work once the design and permit are set. Trenching in established lawns heals within a few weeks, and new sod hides it almost immediately. We walk the finished system with you before we call it done.

Why does Apex clay change how a sprinkler installation is designed?

Wake County clay absorbs water slowly, so long runtimes send water sheeting to the curb instead of into the roots. We match precipitation rates within each zone and program cycle-and-soak — several short passes with breaks between — so the clay actually takes the water in. Paired with Apex’s odd/even schedule, that gets a deep soak on the days you’re allowed to run.
